The Red Cross helps people in Andover and the wider area with the loan of mobility equipment such as wheelchairs and crutches from their centre in Suffolk Rd. People incapacitated through illness or accident can borrow equipment free of charge until they are back on their feet again. In addition there is also a First Aid group in the area who can provide first aid cover at events.

The Emergency Response department supports Hampshire Fire brigade by looking after householders evacuated from their burning houses allowing the Fire service to concentrate on putting the fire out. Red Cross volunteers provide both practical support such as shoes and cups of tea, and emotional support.

Derek Barry, shentongroup Technical Director handed the cheque to Jan outside the company HQ on Walworth Road in Andover.  He said “We are more than pleased to donate to such a hardworking and worthwhile charity who do so much to help people throughout the UK as well as locally”.

The Red Cross centre is open from 10am to 12pm Monday to Friday and on Monday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm.

If you would like to hear more about the work of the Red Cross or would like to make a difference to people’s lives by volunteering or making a donation please contact Jan Treacher-Evans on 02392 894205 [email protected] Fundraising collectors are needed for May.
