Back in 2012 the BBC reported how Ofgem was at the time warning how the UK was risking running out of energy generating capacity by the winter of 2015/16.

Ofgem’s report predicted that the amount of spare capacity could well fall from 14%, which was available at the time, to as low as 4% by this year. However, these levels were indeed experienced earlier, throughout the winter of 2014.

Now half way through 2015 and, although renewables have smashed energy share records this year, Professor Fell, an advisor to the World Energy Council recently announced that a blackout could happen throughout the UK this winter, similar to the one experienced in America which left 50 million Americans in the dark. Professor Fell told The Mail that he’s come to the conclusion that there is a 20 per cent chance of power cuts next winter. So for companies operating in sensitive industries, ranging from healthcare to finance, through to manufacturing, uninterruptible power supplies are imperative to the health of individuals, business continuity and to the consistent safety of data.
