BACKGROUND
Having worked with many gas network providers over the years, Shenton Group was approached once again by a long-standing client to assist with their network role out.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The requirement for this particular project was to install a natural gas generator at a remote site in Shalford just outside Guildford. These gas network sites usually have a size range of between 10kVA and 110kVA, and due to our extensive knowledge of these sites, we quickly determined the required generator size for this site to be 12kVA in a single-phase configuration.

Whilst not being large generators, these projects are still complex due to their nature, and each installation must go through a detailed specification review and technical submission sign off. Once our technical submission was signed off, we manufactured the 12kVA single phase generator utilising a GM engine, Mecc Alte alternator and Deep Sea Electronics control system. With uptime being of absolute importance, a detailed alarm schedule had to be adhered to, and the control system had to be programmed to pick up any potential faults.

As well as the generator, Shenton Group also supplied a 100A single phase changeover system built utilising contractors as per the client’s requirements. Once the generator and changeover panel had passed their internal pre-dispatch tests, we delivered the equipment to site and positioned it. The complete system was commissioned by one of our gas safe qualified engineers and signed off accordingly.
