Overview

A portable hotel company required standby power for its transportable hotel accommodation for Silverstone, the UK’s premier motor racing venue. Shenton Group won pole position, providing the hotel with two generators, distribution equipment and fuel tanks, together with engineers to install, test and certificate the installation.

Problem

Portable hotel accommodation is a new concept in providing luxury accommodation for major events and festivals. The portable hotel is loaded, stacked and transported quickly and efficiently to any destination by land, sea or air, then erected without the need of mains services.

Each room is equipped with a comfortable bed, en-suite wet room with shower, basin and toilet as well as air conditioning, flat-screen TV, wireless Internet and two power points. Therefore, a reliable and portable continuous power supply was required.

“Of course, all hotels have to have a robust continuous power supply. With so many electrical items providing the comfort and services that guests demand, breaks in power are simply not acceptable and will be damaging to the hotel’s brand and reputation. Add the challenges of a temporary location away from any mains power supplies and it was clear that this was a job for Shenton Group”, announced Curtis Meek, Shenton Group’s Sales and Marketing Director.

Solution

Shenton Group was chosen for its ability to provide a fast, turnkey solution that would enable the movable hotel to be fully operational and ready to welcome guests within 48 hours of arriving at Silverstone.

Shenton Group delivered an end-to-end solution which included supplying two generators and fuel tanks. The generators were synchronised to run in parallel to increase flexibility in the event of sudden power disturbances. Also included in the package was 24/7 emergency call-out and a rapid refuelling service.

“We are used to working with high profile clients and managing applications that are in high pressured environments”, said Curtis Meek, Shenton Group’s Sales and Marketing Director. “Our engineers worked closely with the client to ensure that the installation was carried out without a hitch. The standby power will be on site throughout Silverstone’s summer season, ensuring all guests enjoy a comfortable, enjoyable and problem-free stay”, he added.

Outcomes

The portable hotel was running, complete with continuous power supplies on time and provided a high standard of accommodation for all guests throughout the season.

Thanks to Shenton Group, a reliable, continuous power supply provided ample electricity for the site, which was further guaranteed by Shenton Group’s 24 hour emergency call-out and rapid refuelling services.
